The Place
A stone’s throw-away from the famous Septime, this offshoot wine bar holds its own. This tiny bar is usually packed to the rafters, with great wine and good-natured clientele. There’s a huge selection of quality wines to choose from and the staff are friendly and happy to help. Pair your glass (or bottle) of wine with some snacks and small sharing plates: cheese and charcuterie are the order of the day here.

13 Aug 2020I had visited a lot of caves in my previous trips to Paris but never got the chance to come to the famed Septime la Cave. It was more cave like than I had expected, as in the offerings were more charcuterie and cheese focused than I had was originally hoping for given its mother restaurant. Although the cheese and salad dishes I had were outstanding. Especially memorable was the chevre with curry oil. The charcuterie was solid but not as enjoyable to me as the other offerings which stood out. In terms of the wine selection, I was fairly impressed. The by the glass options were solid and I had an interesting Chardonnay, a Pineau d'Aunis and some other ones to pair with the food. The staff were all very talkative and nice. Was very enjoyable to chat wine with them. They even opened a richer red by the glass for me just as I wanted a North Rhone Syrah.
