This is the one place you MUST visit when in Tokyo. I am not a coffee drinker but I was served the best coffee ever! It was a sweetest coffee served in a champagne glass. It was soo good I went in the next day and was offered coffee jelly! Yep.. coffee jelly. Let me reiterate I am not a coffee drinker but I would have coffee here all day. They have been in business since 1948, coffee is weighed, blended and hand dripped! Oh they have the best china too. The decor is retro and expect the most polite and pleasant coffee crew!
The Place
Café de L’Ambre in Ginza is a legendary coffeehouse that’s been in operation since 1948. In this cafe, the focus is exclusively on coffee with the menu only showcasing the different varieties of beans available (apart from the odd coffee-flavoured desserts). Even those familiar with coffee might be hard-pressed to make a choice. Besides the lone blend, there are 30-plus single origin varieties, many of which have been aged for 10 - 20 years. A must for coffee aficionados and casual drinkers alike.
Insider Tips
The cafe has seating space for 22, but we recommend that requesting to sit around the bar counter to get to see the coffee master in action.

12 Jan 2020My husband brought me here because it’s in Persona5. I grudgingly consented. I had what was certainly the best coffee of my life. Amazing mid century ambiance, excellent service, menus in many languages, and extraordinary coffee. Wish I could have sat for a few hours and watched the customers come and go.

18 Feb 2020Great coffee place with great staff, I’d recommend it if you want to get good coffee when in Tokyo. The place gave a weird and nice feeling. Another good thing is that the staff speak English well.

26 Feb 2020Fantastic coffee shop with a great staff. Every cup I had was delicious and the Queen Anne's coffee was probably the best dessert coffee I have ever had. I will make it back here any time I'm in Tokyo. ありがとうございました

28 Jun 2020Cool retro cafe that serves really delicious coffee. They have ice coffee, hot coffee, cocktails. If you do not no what to order, the staff will gladly help you. The vice inside is interesting. Authentic. And nowdays it is mainly non-smoking (seems like there is a place for smokers, too). It is not a tourist trap, it is place you need to visit if you appreciate a good cup of coffee.
