So cozy hostel situated amidst of one of crowded districts of Bangkok, Phya Thai. It is rare to find a hostel surrounded by trees, greens, real grasses, flowers, birds and other mini-sized creatures that walked towards me like they know guests won't hurt them. Thick mattress and puffy blanket. Enjoyed their simply creative breakfast and best was guests can double or triple their bowls if stomach is still asking for. Staff had hospitality mindset and willing to go extra miles for needed guests. Nearby were plenty of awesome eateries as you like.
The Place
The Yard is an eco-hostel, built from old shipping containers and other recycled materials. The hostel offers private rooms, all of which are decorated in a minimalistic but beautiful way, while 4 and 6 bed dorms are also available for those who don’t mind sharing. The Yard’s main feature is, no surprise, their yard, a gorgeous central garden that comes with hammocks and plenty of seating, making it a garden oasis to return to after a long day in the bustling city. Known as a social hostel, the hostel organises many events for its guests which are often held in the garden, like movie nights and yoga sessions. They even have their own bar and BBQ equipment! If you’re a person who loves to socialise and chat with fellow travellers, this is the hostel for you.

6 Dec 2019Amazing experience while staying here. The place is really cool and people come here from around the world, they stay, chat, and share their stories. Complete fun. You get cycles to roam around, and they serve the best breakfast. Check the picture. People and hosts are very cool and passionate about environment. The place is made of recycled items, mostly like the containers are bunkers, but is neat and clean. There are common washrooms, no attached washrooms. That's also cool, gives you the feeling of a hostlier.

22 Dec 2019Word of caution to anyone planning on paying with credit card here: they charge 3%, which is fine, except they also decide on your behalf to have their bank exchange the currency from thai baht to your local currency, adding an additional 3% to the charge. I don't think they gain the other 3% so it probably wasn't done maliciously, but I certainly would not agree to paying 6% extra to use credit card as a form of payment (my card has 0% foreign transaction fee so I will let my own bank deal with the exchange) Aside from that the place is clean and charming. Staff are quite nice as well. I'm surprised no one has died or been severely injured from falling off the second floor platform where the bed is since the staircase is steep and has no railing or anything to hold onto when descending. Love that they have filtered water and ice which helps us avoid buying water in plastic bottles 👌

10 Mar 2020The place is cozy and atmosphere is great. You’ll meet some very friendly people and the staff is awesome! The problem with the place is the location and the amenities. The bed was just awful and “privacy curtains” are a joke. The cold shower in the morning was just the cherry on top. If you prefer atmosphere over nice beds and showers, you’ll love this place. If you need a comfy place to sleep or want to be closer to touristy things, look elsewhere.
