In Singapore, there’s no denial we love gluttony—especially if it’s to celebrate a holiday or special occasion. In light of the joyous season, it seems nearly every restaurant and café are offering a Christmas or New Year’s Eve-themed menu. From scrumptious hotel buffets with a festive spread to multicourse set menus just for the jolly season, there are unlimited options for your year-end meal.

If you want to end 2022 on a delicious note, here are our picks for what to indulge in with your loved ones this holiday season. Pro-tip: it’s best to make a reservation before the popular slots disappear!

L'Angélus

This iconic eatery on Club Street opened its doors in 1998, and is famed for being the oldest single-location traditional French restaurant in Singapore. To get diners in the festive mood, its head chef Benjamin Yip has created a 3-course menu ($98) featuring a host of delectable dishes. From Poached Foie Gras (with black truffle artichoke velouté and fresh autumn black truffle) to Miso-Glazed Deep Sea Australian Toothfish (paired with Murasaki uni butter) to a Crispy Skin Moulard Duck Breast (with orange reduction and celeriac pureé), your mouth will water as soon as you see the menu. As for dessert, a classic Mont Blanc or Baked Alaska is the perfect end to a satisfying meal.

Tapas,24 Singapore

This Barcelona tapas import is known for its innovative Spanish fare and libations, not to mention its lively atmosphere that always serves up a great time. Head chef Carolina Garcia Santamaria has created some unconventional holiday dishes, focusing on vegetarian and seafood options—shying away from the traditional meat-heavy festive meals. Some of the standouts on the menu include Porcini stuffed in piquillo peppers, Homemade Plant-Based Meatballs in Catalan ratatouille, and Grilled Squid with pistachio vinaigrette and squid-ink aioli. The famous Carles Chocolate Cake rounds out the meal, which is perfectly moist and decadent.

Try its Christmas-themed cocktails and mocktail for extra cheer, including the Berry Christmas (raspberry syrup, lime, and cava), Jolly Santa’s Secret (Gonzalez Byass Nectar Pedro Ximénez Sherry, milk and dark chocolate sauce), and the Jolly Elf’s Secret (non-alcoholic chocolate drink available hot and cold, paired with a gingerbread cookie). Its yuletide offerings include gastronomic spreads for brunch and dinner, featuring everything from hearty carvings (think glazed ham, roast turkey, and roast beef), local delights (chili crab dip with golden mantou and satay skewers), freshly shucked oysters and crab legs, sushi and sashimi, and more much. Canadian, Michelin-starred chef Alvin Leung, nicknamed the Demon Chef (with his recognizable blue hair and tattoos), is known for his unconventional approach to fine dining. His Singapore outlet is located at The Capital Kempinski Hotel, which will be offering Christmas and NYE set menus that showcase contemporary Asian flavours created in his signature style. Some featured dishes include a Torched Sword Fish (with cincalok, pomelo, cilantro lime emulsion, and chili cutter fish floss), Japanese Crab “Sawagani” (immersed in a Thai curry with basil and assam lychee), and Smoked Turkey Breast (made with beef fat saffron, basil caviar, chestnut, and bonito consommé), among others. We’re personally eyeing the Banana Parfait (layered with dark-rum jelly, coconut malto, jula jawa crisp, and roasted tea ice cream) that will round off your joyous meal.
