The best way to break your fast is to eat dates. Followed by an extensive meal with your family and friends. Sometimes, after a long day of fasting what we truly look forward to isn’t the grand or huge meals but rather to finally have a proper dinner with your loved ones. So, here’s our roundup on the best places to visit to break your fast this Ramadhan!

Coba Coba

If you’re searching for something more traditional and the perfect sharing meal, visit Coba Coba! Every day, the restaurant never fails to whip up more than 30 gravies for their customers to choose from.  Simply just spoilt for choices! The recipe strictly follows the traditional ways of Indonesian and Malay cooking and hence, perfection. The restaurant allows you to create your own Nasi Padang or you can simply order their ready-made Nasi Ambeng that comes in various sizes. The sharing platter starts from $27 and could accommodate to at least 3 pax but realistically, 4 to 5 pax is more resounding as the portions are huge. The restaurant’s name itself translates to try try so if you haven’t tried it at least once, you’re really missing out!

Gallop Kranji Farm Resort

Located deep inside Kranji, here you can find a restaurant with farmlike vibes. The area is divided into 2 sections — 1 is occupied by pushcart vendors that sell food ranging from Western cuisines to Middle Eastern and another lies 555 Halal Thai. Hence, this area is perfect for those groups who have different cravings. Some of the pushcart stalls available are Gentleman Bergs, The Original Pisang Keju and endless more. On the other hand, 555 Halal Thai is simply an amazing place for authentic, spicy Thai food. The menu is incredibly extensive as well! This area is always bustling with crowds so a tip is to visit the area early as they do not accept reservations.

Kucina Italian Restaurant

Craving for some hearty Italian cuisines? Check this humble family restaurant inside Kinex Mall! The founder and chef of the restaurant is an Italian Muslim-convert and whips out amazing authentic Italian dishes beyond fresh pasta. Customers get the chance to order ala-carte but even so I recommend sharing because the portions are huge. My personal favourite has got to be their Tortellini Di Manzo which is stuffed handmade pasta soaked in cream sauce. The beef and turkey ham stuffing is full of rich spices and the cream sauce has a smooth and light touch. Other than that, their best-sellers are also highly recommended and do not disappoint!

Wakuwaku Yukiniku

The local rapper, Sheik Haikel, founder of the famous Fat Papas has recently opened a new franchise, Wakuwaku Yukiniku! Along with his partner, Bernie Tay, the both managed to hire a highly experienced butcher and chef from Sapporo to create all the magic for their customers. The various beef cuts have the perfect combination of fat and meat. On top of that, each cut has a beautiful marbling which simply tastes like absolute perfection in your mouth. After grilling the meat, dip it in their homemade Yakiniku sauce which adds a robust kick to the juicy beef. The cost of each ala-carte platter starts from $6 but be prepared to spend at least $30 per pax.

Another similar concept to Gallop Kranji Farm Resort is Makan Empire! Located in Kaki Bukit, this halal coffee shop holds many stalls that serve various cuisines. Regard it as your halal Newton Food Centre — customers are given the chance to enjoy shellouts, steamboats and many other ala-carte cuisines.
