Tucked away in the quiet neighborhood of Stevens Road and Bukit Timah, The Ritual is an oasis of calmness. With its minimalist interior, this spot is perfect for having  good conversations, and tasty food and drinks — it’s also just a five minute walk away from the Stevens MRT station.

The Ritual strives to integrate mind, body and soul, serving as an inclusive cafe for everyone. While we live through a fast-paced and stressful environment, this safe space is for anyone to practice healthy rituals that can lead to a balanced lifestyle. The minimalist, Instagram-worthy interior with soft tunes playing in the background make it a great space for studying or working. Grab a coffee and avocado toast, as you sit back and relax in this comfy, quiet space.

I visited The Ritual on a hot and sunny afternoon during a late lunch hour. At this time of the day, it wasn’t too busy or crowded. I quickly found a table and settled into the perfect, cozy environment for a little mid-day break.

The food — simple yet wholesome — is all created from scratch at the highest quality. Using only spices, herbs, and Himalayan salt, The Ritual hopes to bring its customers healthy but delicious food. A quick browse through its menu and guests will see freshly baked pastries and breads, salads, protein bowls, and brunch items. For those who have strict dietary restrictions, The Ritual has plenty of plant-based and gluten-free options on its menu. Pro-tip: breakfast is available until 3pm for those who aren’t early birds.

After going through the menu for what seemed like ages because of the plethora of yummy options, I decided to go with the Truffle Mushroom Pasta and an Iced Matcha Latte with Oat Milk. The pasta was delicious: it had just the right consistency of thickness and creaminess, and was just the right portion size. The matcha latte had perfect hints of green tea, blending into the sweetness of sugar and the creamy texture. During my next visit, I can’t wait to try the Avocado Toast and The Ritual Big Breakfast.

Not only does The Ritual serve elegant, tasty, and wholesome meals, its beverages are also top notch. From specialty coffee and tea to smoothies, and from fruit sodas to cold pressed juices, the selection here is endless. This cafe even has a cold brew section on its drink menu, which is dedicated to cold brew coffee and tea. For those who want an alcoholic treat, The Ritual also serves specialty wine and craft beer, available all day so you don’t have to wait until happy hour!

As soon as I was done with my meal, I took a moment to pull out my laptop to get a bit of work done. With free wifi and the company of others around me in a cozy space, it was an ideal spot for a bit of focus time.

The next time I plan on visiting this eatery, I will definitely carve out a longer block of my day to spend here. From the food to the pastries, and from the drinks to the ambiance, The Ritual is a comfortable and cozy spot to spend your time in, and definitely a lesser-known gem in Singapore.
