Perth is filled with water features for adventurers and history enthusiasts alike. Here are the must-visits, sorted by activity.

Go off the beaten track at Coogee Beach

Cottesloe and Scarborough are where all the tourists go, but Coogee is perfect for a uniquely local experience. Located south of Fremantle, this quiet beach has plenty to offer. Families will love the kid-friendly splash park located steps from the beach, and solo adventurers can delight in exploring the Omeo Shipwreck - it’s close enough to swim out to.

Kick back at Injidup “Natural Spa”

Okay, so it’s not technically a spa per se, but this little rockpool is great for a seawater soak as it is well-protected from the pounding waves. You can also get a “massage” from the surf smashing against the rocks. Adventurous guests will find there is plenty of room for rock climbing and cliff jumping, but should do so with caution due to the unpredictable nature of the tide.

Marvel at nature at Lake Clifton

Science enthusiasts are sure to have a field day at Lake Clifton. The numerous “rocks” that can be seen on the surface of the lake are actually thrombolites - limestone-like structures that predate humanity itself. While the reason for the structures forming in the lake is still debated, they can be viewed up close on the lakeside loop walking trail.

Get away from the crowds at Honeymoon Pool

Okay, this one isn’t exactly in Perth, but it’s perfect if you want to get away from the crowds. Shaded by Peppermint trees, this tranquil river is located about an hour from Perth city and is virtually deserted on weekdays. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the well-appointed campsites and barbecue pits, but there are also picnic tables and shaded spots to enjoy a packed lunch.

Dip with a view in Serpentine Falls

The sound of rushing water will guide you to this crystal clear waterfall in Serpentine National Park. This popular swimming hole has provided endless entertainment to visitors for over a hundred years, and is open for swimming. After your soak, follow one of the signposted trails for some of the best views of the Darling Scarp.
