Solo travelling can be extremely fun but sometimes, it might get difficult exploring on your own in a place that is not familiar. Seoul is a city so full of life and adventures that you cannot possibly run out of things to do! Here are some solo-friendly things to do that you can add into your itinerary!
Explore the cities’ many museums
With over a hundred museums in the city, you can never run out of art to admire here. Amongst the hundred, there are many that are also free! Enjoying art at your own pace is the perfect way to learn more about the culture or the country you are in. Some popular museums include the National Folk Museum, National Museum of Korean Contemporary History and more!
Join in the new trend of “hon-bap”
“Hon-bap” is the mix of two korean words, “honja” and “bap” which directly translate to having food alone. While for most restaurants, especially BBQ places, meals are usually sold in servings of two and above, these hon-bap restaurants favor every singular patron. Visit the many matjib or popular eating spots with hon-bap menus like Geudongnae Tteokbokki or Mibundang, both located in Hongdae!
Enjoy the natural beauty of Seoul
For many travelers, getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city is what they are looking for. Thankfully, although Seoul is known to be a metropolitan and vibrant city, there are also a number of natural beauties to enjoy in the city. Whether it is taking a hike up the famous Bukhansan National Park or simply having a picnic by the Han River, Seoul offers a rejuvenating time for those looking for it!
Get crazy on a pub crawl
One of my favorite things to do as a solo traveler is to explore the nightlife of the city that I am visiting! It allows me to learn more about the culture and people through a fun night of drinks and dancing. For a city like Seoul that never sleeps, pub crawls are the perfect way to start your trip right! Best thing about it, no one knows you yet so you can have all the fun without reservations.
Shop til you drop
What can be more therapeutic than wandering along the many shopping streets of Seoul? From Myeongdong to Gangnam, shopaholics who visit this city never leave dissatisfied. As a huge shopper myself, I often feel bad about having friends wait up for me as I continue my shopping. Shopping alone can be such an adventure especially in the shopper’s paradise of Seoul.
