Taking a scenic drive might be the last thing you would think of doing especially in a small city-island like Singapore. But, there are definitely roads you can take on for a whiff of fresh air and a little look into Singapore from the rearview mirror.
Mount Faber
Take a drive up the winding roads of Mount Faber which eventually brings you to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the city. Embrace the lush greenery on your way up and for a moment, imagine yourself in a far away land - maybe in a place and time where the pandemic does not exist! Catch the sunset or sunrise from the peak of Mount Faber Park to end off your little drive.
Tuas & Raffles Marina Lighthouse
While many might think that Tuas is only home to industrial parks, the westernmost tip of the island is also home to the Raffles Marina Lighthouse or Johore Straits Lighthouse, a perfect place to capture an Instagramable picture! Drive all the way down to the western end of the island, catch a little sea breeze and spend your day exploring this little corner of the island.
Kampong Lorong Buangkok
Turn back time and take on a little road trip to the last surviving kampung in the country sitting in the midst of modern buildings in Buangkok. Home to a tight-knit community of less than 30 families, this space will make you feel as though you are transported to a serene little village elsewhere.
Lim Chu Kang Road
One of the five heritage roads in the country, Lim Chu Kang Road is lined with trees like the Angsana, Broad Leaf Mahogany and more, making the area quiet and tranquil, perfect for a little drive.
Wessex Estate
Explore the colonial-style residential estate of Wessex off Portsdown Avenue, where lush greenery continues to thrive. Drive along the little roads where you can find my black-and-white apartments and semi-detached houses which used to house officers and soldiers in the British Army.
