On this tour, you will visit the remarkable Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, one of the most unique architectural structures of the 18th century, and you will get a glimpse into the scientific, architectural, and artistic aspects of ancient Korea. You will be easily influenced by its beauty even if you don't have any background knowledge of its history. Built by the late King Jeongjo of the Joseon Dynasty in 1796, the castle is steeped in stories of war, science and industry. Its construction was a response to the collapse of the Korean front line during the Imjin War, which saw the Japanese invade Korea. An emerging icon of Korean traditional and historical culture, the fortress is now a popular tourist attraction today - one of the 50 must visit places in Korea selected by CNN. At the end of your tour, you will visit the Hwaseong Haenggung Palace. This palace is located outside of Seoul and is the largest of the many temporary hideouts of King Jeongjo and his royal family during the war. In addition to being used as a shelter, this palace also serves as the burial grounds of King Jeongjo's late father, Crown Prince Sado. Every sunday, from April to October, the Jangyongyeong guard ceremony is held at the front gate, so be sure to visit during this period to catch a rare glimpse of a long-forgotten tradition!

  • A pick-up and drop off service is available for centrally-located Seoul hotels. If your accommodation isn't in Seoul (for example, Incheon), you can choose whether to make your own way to Seoul or to pay the extra charge based on the distance traveled, on the day of your tour.

  • This tour does not stop at any shopping centers.

  • Infants 2 years and below are allowed in for free
